BIOGRAPHY
Kabusa Oriental Choir is a Choir from Nigeria that is known for creating choir versions of popular songs.
The Choir was created by Austin Chinemezu Nwamara, the Director, on the 11th of March 2019 when he published their first song which was a choral mashup cover of 'Yeba' and 'Baba'; it went viral and launched the choir into limelight.
The inspiration behind the creation of the choir came when the Director, Austin Chinemezu Nwamara, was on a Uber ride home from his place of work – a law firm in Abuja, Nigeria - with a colleague. He randomly imagined what the song ‘Baba by Kizz Daniel’ would sound like if an african catholic church choir sang it. He then began to sing it which made his colleague and Uber driver laugh; so he knew that it would be an instant hit.
The following week, Austin found a studio and recorded the song; he shot a music video with a Samsung galaxy S9 with the choir arrayed in choir robes. The video was posted on Instagram and became an instant hit. It was on most major blogs, featured on several TV stations, reposted by thousands of fans on their WhatsApp statuses, Instagram and Facebook. It stirred multiple reactions on the internet by African Catholics who could relate to it.
Over the years, Kabusa Oriental Choir has evolved from just creating choir covers of popular songs to featuring in major mainstream songs like 'Call Me Back' by Sirens of Lesbos Featuring Sadboi, ‘Nem Tenta’ by Sued Nunes, ‘Falling Feels Like Flying’ by Anotr, ‘Regntid’ by Tobias Rahim ‘Easy To Love’ by Folamour
